Reflections and Red Halos
Me gustaría advertir a la comunidad fotográfica de los problemas de Reflexiones y Halos Rojos que presenta la nueva Cámara Canon EOS Ra modificada para captar mejor el IR y que se vean mejor las regiones HII así como otros objetos del cielo. Las imágenes que obtenidas con la Cámara Canon EOS Ra presentan defectos con halos rojos y reflexiones en las estrellas más brillantes.
I would like to warn the photographic community of the Reflections and Red Halos issues presented by the new Canon EOS Ra Camera modified to better capture IR and make HII regions as well as other sky objects better visible. Images obtained with the Canon EOS Ra Camera are flawed with red halos and reflections in the brightest stars.

En el mes de Enero de 2020 adquirí una cámara Canon EOS Ra a través de Fotoboom España. Durante el mes de enero realicé un viaje al Desierto de Atacama donde realicé una serie de fotos a Orion y en ellas empezó a aparecer un halo de colo amarillo rojizo alrededor de la estrella Betelgeuse, por un momento me ilusioné y pensé que podía ser un posible efecto de que estuviera comenzando la esperada Supernova pero no, se trataba de reflejos que provoca el sensor de la Canon EOS Ra cuando tenemos estrellas muy brillantes.
In January 2020, I purchased a Canon EOS Ra camera through Fotoboom Spain. During the month of January I made a trip to the Atacama Desert where I took a series of photos of Orion and in them a reddish-yellow halo began to appear around the star Betelgeuse, for a moment I was excited and I thought it could be a possible Effect that the expected Supernova was starting but no, it was reflections caused by the Canon EOS Ra sensor when we have very bright stars.

Contacté con la empresa que me vendió la Cámara que se puso en contacto con Canon a lo que Canon comenta que se debe al uso de adaptadores externos, en este caso un adaptador tipo T para el telescopio. Luego ya en marzo vino la pandemia y no pude realizar muchas pruebas sobre objetos brillantes ya que vivo en una ciudad con mucha contaminación lumínica como es Santiago de Chile. Si bien pude hacer pruebas sobre Jupiter con un Canon 200mm f2.8 montado con el adaptador provisto por Canon y los reflejos siguen ahí.
I contacted the company that sold me the camera who contacted Canon to which Canon comments that it is due to the use of external adapters, in this case a type T adapter for the telescope. Then, in March, the pandemic came and I could not carry out many tests on shiny objects since I live in a city with a lot of light pollution such as Santiago de Chile. While I was able to test the Jupiter with a Canon 200mm f2.8 mounted with the Canon provided adapter and the reflections are still there.
No se a que espera Canon para reconocer que EXISTE UN PROBLEMA DE FABRICA con su NUEVA CAMARA CANON EOS Ra y proceder a resolver el problema y cambiar las cámaras afectadas como otros fabricantes han hecho en el pasado. Recordemos que NIKON tuvo en el pasado un problema similar de reflexiones por el que procedió al cambio de sus productos si bien CANON por ahora no quiere reconocer el problema en una cámara que es de muy buena calidad pero que así en estas condiciones no sirve al Astrofotografo Amateur o Profesional.
I don't know what Canon is waiting for to recognize that THERE IS A FACTORY PROBLEM WITH THEIR NEW CANON EOS Ra CAMERA and proceed to resolve the problem and change the affected cameras as other manufacturers have done in the past. Let us remember that NIKON had in the past a similar problem of reflections for which it proceeded to change its products, although CANON for now does not want to recognize the problem in a camera that is of very good quality but that in these conditions it does not serve the Astrophotographer Amateur or Professional.

No poder usar una Cámara DSLR modificada con accesorios de terceras partes como son:
- Barlows
- Reductores de Focal
- Aplanadores
- Etc...
No tiene ningún sentido en el mundo de la astrofotografía y por ello recomiendo que mientras no corrijan el presente defecto no adquieran una Cámara Canon EOS Ra para el uso en Astrofotografía
Not being able to use a modified DSLR Camera with third party accessories such as:
- Barlows
- Focal reducers
- Flatteners
- Etc...
It does not make any sense in the world of astrophotography and therefore I recommend that as long as they do not correct the present defect do not acquire a Canon EOS Ra Camera for use in Astrophotography
